Pandemic Greeting Cards: When you’re not sure what to say

First off, how are you doing? Good, Bad and I am not sure are all ok answers and feelings during times like this. Life has gotten very interesting lately.  Navigating life during a pandemic is new to me. Also, I’m pretty sure we now at least have that in common. I am not making light of the situation the world is in right now.  It is scary that so many people are sick, dying, out of work, struggling to make ends meet.

When really crazy things are going on my default is humor. Often, it is not always well thought out humor. More of that odd uncontrollable awkward laughing. Yep, that’s me.

But the true part of it, I want to make people happy. I want to make people smile and forget the insanity for just a moment.  We all have our own different ways of doing this. One of my ways to chill is note writing.

Sending handwritten cards and care packages is always something that I do.  It is like a ritual to me.  I find it extremely self-soothing and a great way to keep in touch with people I care about. I love cards, stamps, paper, writing and really what I love most is trying to brighten someone’s day.  In the world of social media and texts, none of that can replace the feeling of getting something other thank a bill or another promotional offer in the mail.

You notice it right away, a handwritten address instead of a preprinted on that may not even have your name spelled right, or address to the resident of the address.

Yeah, I’m talking about you Valpak, real personal. (Insert: Eye-roll)

YOU’VE GOT MAIL

But then as you sift through grocery store flyers and bills… standing out in a colored envelope with actual handwriting.  A note from someone and your face suddenly has a smile.

Be that someone for your friends and send them a “Pandemic Greeting Card”. Boy, I never thought that I would be typing those words. You don’t even have to be super creative for this one.  You can’t print them out on 8.5″ x 11″ card stock, one cut down the middle and a quick fold.  The finished card size is 5.5″ wide by 4.25″ tall and will fit in a 5.75″ wide and 4.375″ wide or an A2 envelope.

A pandemic greeting card is when you want to say something but you just aren’t sure what to say at all.
